WhatsApp may soon allow you to edit messages sent to you
WhatsApp is about to get a feature that we all probably wanted at some point: the ability to edit sent messages. The meta-owned messaging platform is working on the message editing feature to make sure nothing goes wrong with you. See what can be expected here.
WhatsApp's editing message features are working
A recent report from WABetaInfo, known for tracking WhatsApp features, revealed that WhatsApp has begun working on the ability to edit text messages sent. This way, you will be able to correct the typo or change the message completely if necessary.
The announcement comes five years after rumors surfaced that WhatsApp was launching a message editing option. The idea was eventually scrapped but it turns out that 2022 could be the year it reaches users.
The report also includes a screenshot showing how the edit option works. It has been revealed that once a message is long pressed the edit option will appear. This option will pop up in addition to the data and copy options. All you have to do is click on the edit option, type a new message and send it again. You can, take a look at it below
It is suggested that there should be no edit history for viewing all edited versions of the message That said, it could probably be included in the final version of the feature. Also, we don't know if a feature like the Delete Message option will have a time limit. For those who don't know, the ability to delete a message after sending it has a time window of about an hour. Post it, the message can't be deleted.
Now, it remains to be seen if WhatsApp plans its editing options. As it is currently under development, it may take some time before it becomes available for beta and general users. The edit option is also set to reach Android, iOS, and desktop versions of WhatsApp. We'll let you know when this happens, so be sure to check out Beebom.com In the meantime, let us know how you feel after the edit feature is turned on in the comments below.
